One day at a time

So, I realize it has already been over a week since I have updated, but life has been CRAZY!!  We will finally be closing on our new house this week.  As soon as we move in, I will start updating more as I complete my project list at home.  I am looking forward to my DIY paver patio (much less expensive than a traditional paver patio, but more on that later!!), creating some built-in shelving, framing out our "builder grade" mirrors in our bathrooms, and many MANY more projects.  Until then, I am going to leave you with this fun recipe for Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies I made the other day.  They taste like a mix between cinnamon rolls and snickerdoodles...which means totally awesome :)

Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies

Dough:
1/2 Cup (1 stick) Unsalted Butter
1 Cup sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour less 2 Tbls.
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Filling:
2 T Unsalted Butter (melted)
3/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar
1 T Cinnamon

Cream butter, sugar and egg together until light.  Add vanilla.  Combine flour, baking powder and salt.  Mix well.  Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.  Roll out dough to approximately 16"x12" on parchment paper and drizzle with melted butter.  Mix brown sugar and cinnamon together and sprimkle over cookie dough.  With long side towards you, roll dough away from you (if dough is sticky, stick back in the refrigerator for another 15-30 minutes to make it easier to handle).  Slice 1/4"-1/2" thick cookies from roll.  Bake at 325° for 8 - 10 minutes.  Allow to cool and enjoy!

New Beginnings

I have been waiting for this day for quite some time.   I have wanted to start a blog for years now, but I never had the time.  Well, what better time than now?

Introductions and conclusions were always the hardest parts of any writing assignment I ever completed, so I will just jump right into it.  One of the first projets I completed for my new home was actually one I did in anticipation of moving.  We were nearing Christmas, so what better project than make a new wreath for my new home.

This project was so fun, and very affordable!  The base wreath, geo mesh and the ornaments I found at Hobby Lobby (50% off!!), the silver ribbon from Dee's Crafts, and the Santa sign from Michael's Arts & Crafts.

This was such a fun project...a wonderful craft that can easily fit into an afternoon.  I will post more once we move in and get a chance to decorate :)
